If You Need A Restraining Order

If you or a family member has suffered abuse or threats, you need to act. Getting protection in Georgia is a two-step process:

  • If you are in immediate danger, you should go to Superior Court to file a petition for a Temporary Family Violence Protection Order, also known as an ex parte order. Our firm can advise you how to do this.
  • Within 30 days, a hearing will be scheduled regarding the issuance of a Family Violence Protection Order. It is essential that you have legal representation in this hearing. We will present your case, seeking specific conditions that can protect you and your family. We can also attempt to obtain court costs and attorney fees from the other party.

If you want to extend a protection order past its expiration date, our firm can represent you.

Have You Been Accused Of Domestic Violence?

The issuance of a protection order against you can have many negative consequences. You can be forced from your home, lose your custody and visitation rights, and lose your ability to own a firearm. Harrison & Medlin, P.C. can represent you in the hearing, to present your side of the story, and prevent the issuance of a Family Violence Protection Order.

If you face criminal domestic violence allegations, our firm can defend your rights and freedom. Get legal help today.

From our offices in Evans and Lincolnton, Georgia, our attorneys provide legal representation for clients with legal matters in superior, state and magistrate courts, municipal courts and probate courts statewide.
