As many Georgia families know, the decision to have a child is not an easy one. For some, adoption is a deliberate choice families pursue, and international adoption is a good option. However, just like a pregnancy can have its ups and downs, adoptions have the potential to cause hardship.
For one woman, her journey took her all the way to the other side of the globe, where her newly adopted daughter was waiting. Unfortunately, because of bureaucratic difficulties with their passports, she and her daughter have been stranded there for almost a month. The mother has been able to connect with several other American adoptive families in the same situation.
For this mother, seeking to return from the Ukraine with her new daughter, adoption has proven to be a difficult undertaking. As it is a legal process, there are always piles of paperwork and red tape to deal with, and many families do not even know where to start. There are several important steps to take in every adoption, and this is the case in both international and domestic adoptions. Often, a second party is needed to translate the legalese in each and every document and help the family navigate
While there are sure to be difficulties during any legal process, many Georgia families have found great joy in expanding their families through adoption. Not only do children without families get the chance to join a family unit, parents are given the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of those children. Many times, this is just the second chance both parents and children want and deserve.
