The lives of Georgia families are changed through adoption

On Behalf of | Jan 8, 2015 | Adoption |

Children around the world without a home to call their own are waiting to be adopted. Families, individuals and foster parents have the ability to take the step into the adoption process. Whether one adopts a child from another country or domestically, his or her life will never be the same. People in Georgia can choose to adopt and become the forever family of a child.

There are hundreds of thousands of children up for adoption. Some of these children are placed in the foster care system. The family in which they are placed can adopt those children in the foster care system who are unable to be adopted by a family member. Some children who age out of foster care later adopt a child from the system.

One couple had two children of their own before they decided to adopt two more, a 6-year-old girl and a 1-year-old boy. The couple was the boy’s foster parents, before they decided to become his forever family. This little boy had been taken out of an abusive home and was non-verbal because of that. However, this family provided him with love and care; now 3 years old, he tests above average.

Like many people considering adoption, this couple admitted that they did not know everything that it would require. In spite of this, the joy they experience because of their children cannot be ignored. Georgia residents looking into adoption can use websites, programs and other resources to become more familiar with the process. With some help, they can then make the decision to take the big step of starting the adoption process.
