2019 Crosstrek tops list of most crash-prone cars

The Insurance Institute of Highway Safety has given the highest rating for crashworthiness and crash avoidance to the 2019 Subaru Crosstrek. Yet this vehicle, according to a survey from Insurify, is involved in more at-fault collisions than any other vehicle in the U.S. What Georgia residents should know is that the auto insurance comparison website came out with a list of 10 such accident-prone vehicles.

After analyzing over 1.6 million insurance quotes, Insurify stated that 25.81% of Crosstreks are affected by car crashes. This was followed by 25.7% of Honda HR-Vs, putting the vehicle second on the list. This was followed by the Hyundai Elantra GT, the Infiniti Q50 and Subaru’s second car on the list, the WRX. The WRX has been associated with the highest proportion of speeding offenses.

The bottom half of the list consisted of the Mazda3, Acura ILX, Lexus CT, Chevrolet Trax and Hyundai Santa Fe Sport. Chevrolet’s is the only U.S. vehicle on the list. Seven were Japanese, and two were Korean. In all, 13.64% of these vehicles were impacted by car accidents.

Why the Crosstrek made number one is not clear. However, because it is a relatively safe car, its occupants can walk away from crashes most of the time without serious injuries.

Those who are involved in a car wreck and who believe that the other side was at fault may want to see a lawyer about the situation. The police may find out that the other driver was to blame and how. This can provide grounds for a personal injury claim. The lawyer might hire investigators to obtain a copy of the police report and find other evidence of negligence before heading off to negotiations. A successful claim may cover medical expenses, lost income and more.
