Many Walmart stores may see high levels of consumer traffic every day and those who navigate busy parking lots may expect nearby drivers to promote safety by slowly progressing through these areas. However, it might not always be feasible to expect all drivers to take such measures and those who exhibit reckless behaviors could place the safety of others nearby at risk. One person has died and another suffered injuries in a recent car accident after a driver crashed into the entranceway of a Walmart in Georgia.

Crash investigation

Law enforcement agents say they received reports of the crash on a recent Wednesday. They advised that the driver of a motor vehicle was speeding through the parking lot of a local Walmart when he lost control and crashed into the side of the building. The vehicle proceeded to hit several individuals in the process and authorities say that the incident claimed the life of a 66-year-old man.

Reports indicate that at least one other person was taken to a medical facility for treatment of injuries. Authorities have advised that speeding and reckless behaviors appear to have been contributing factors in the crash. They also indicated that the driver of the car has been taken into custody and is facing multiple charges, including vehicular homicide and reckless driving.

Seeking restitution

While a car accident can take place in the blink of an eye, the fallout could have a lasting effect on the lives of those involved, or on those who lose a loved one in the process. When facing similar hardships in life, individuals in Georgia might choose to consult with an attorney for advice on their available legal avenues. Such guidance could prove vital to helping a person explore every available option and prepare to pursue the full amount of compensation to which he or she is entitled through a claim against the party deemed responsible.
