Knowing how best to respond to allegations of unlawful behavior during a traffic stop can be a daunting task. When it comes to a similar situation, the average person might not be fully aware of his or her legal rights and options, which may only further complicate matters. Three individuals in Georgia may be in search of guidance after they were arrested on drug charges during a recent traffic stop.

The traffic stop is said to have taken place on a recent Thursday evening after authorities claimed to have encountered a vehicle with a suspended registration. After approaching the vehicle and speaking with the driver, they also claim to have discovered that there was an active warrant for her arrest. As the passenger did not have a valid driver’s license, a third party was apparently called to come and drive the vehicle.

While awaiting the arrival of the third person, authorities allegedly uncovered the presence of a small bag containing methamphetamine within the vehicle. Police also assert that one of the individuals who showed up to move the car was found to be in possession of an illegal substance. Up to three individuals were arrested during the traffic stop, each of whom now face various drug charges in relation to the incident.

Standing accused of drug charges can be a stressful and intimidating experience under virtually any circumstance. Those who face similar allegations and wish to know more about all their available options could benefit from consulting with an attorney for guidance in making informed choices about their situation. An attorney in Georgia can work toward protecting a client’s legal rights and assist in forming a strong defense for use during subsequent court proceedings.
