Traffic stop leaves 1 facing DUI charges in Georgia

On Behalf of Harrison & Medlin, P.C. | Sep 25, 2020 | DUI Defense

It may come as no surprise that being accused of involvement in unlawful activity can be a stressful and daunting experience. When facing similar allegations during a traffic stop, the average person might not be fully aware of his or her legal rights and available options. A man is Georgia could be in search of guidance after a recent incident in Georgia left him facing DUI charges.

According to reports, the traffic stop took place at around 7 p.m. on a recent Thursday. Although authorities say they initiated the stop after they began to suspect the presence of impairment, no further information was provided as to what led them to determine this to be a factor. During the stop, the driver told authorities that he had only taken muscle relaxers and drank energy drinks and had not consumed alcohol prior to getting behind the wheel.

Authorities proceeded to administer field sobriety tests, which they claim the man failed to perform in a satisfactory manner. The man was subsequently taken into custody after results from a breath test allegedly indicated his blood alcohol content to be over the legal limit. He is currently facing charges for driving under the influence, a conviction of which could have a lingering impact on various areas of his life.

Those who face DUI charges may wish to know about all the available options to help them prepare to protect their futures during the subsequent process. Since the criminal justice system can be challenging to navigate alone, a person could benefit from retaining the services of an attorney for assistance as soon as possible. An attorney can work toward protecting a client’s legal rights and assist him or her in making informed choices about the situation while preparing a strong defense for use in court proceedings.
