The idea of being involved in a traffic stop can be scary and stressful under any circumstance. Those who face a similar scenario might not always know how best to respond to the scenario and they may not be aware of how their actions could affect the outcome of the situation. One person is reportedly facing DUI charges and another is facing drug charges following an alleged high-speed pursuit in Georgia.

While many of the details as to what led to the incident remain unclear, authorities say it began after they attempted to initiate a routine traffic stop. They say the driver of the vehicle failed to adhere and proceeded to lead them on a pursuit, reaching speeds of nearly 90 mph in the process. The incident is said to have ended after authorities deployed measures to stop the vehicle.

No further information was provided as to what took place during the subsequent investigation. However, police did advise that the driver of the vehicle was arrested on various charges, including allegations of driving under the influence. A passenger in the vehicle was also taken into custody and is facing charges for possession of illegal drugs and possession of a firearm.

In addition to the possibility of not knowing how best to respond to the situation, those facing drug or DUI charges may also be unaware of their available options and legal rights. Those who face allegations of similar offenses could find it helpful to speak with an attorney as soon as possible for guidance in navigating the criminal justice system. An attorney in Georgia can work toward protecting a client’s legal rights and assist him or her in creating a strategy to pursue the best outcome achievable during subsequent court proceedings.
