Investigation into string of accidents leads to DUI charges

On Behalf of Harrison & Medlin, P.C. | May 3, 2021 | DUI Defense

Being accused of involvement in numerous motor vehicle accidents in a brief period can be a stressful experience. Should investigations into such incidents also raise suspicion of the presence of further unlawful activity, the subject thereof might feel shaken up and uncertain of how best to handle the situation. Reports indicate that a recent investigation into a string of accidents in Georgia has left a 19-year-old man facing DUI charges.

Accident investigation

According to reports, the investigation began on a recent Tuesday after authorities received information about up to three separate accidents allegedly caused by the same driver. They assert that the man may also have been involved in several other collisions during this period but did not provide any further information on these incidents. It also remains unclear as to how the alleged incident ended.

Although reports indicate that several vehicles were damaged in the process, it appears that no injuries were reported. Authorities assert that the man has been taken into custody and is now facing charges for driving while impaired and evading authorities. They also assert that the man had marijuana in his system at the time but did not state how this was determined.

Knowing the options

It is understandable that facing DUI charges can be an intimidating process and those who lack the necessary legal experience might not always know how best to handle the situation. When facing a similar scenario, a person in Georgia could find it beneficial to consult with legal counsel as soon as possible for advice on all his or her available legal rights and options. An attorney can work toward protecting a client’s legal rights and assist him or her in making informed choices while preparing for a strategy for subsequent legal proceedings.
