After losing control of a vehicle, it can be difficult to react quickly enough to steer back on path in time to avoid creating a dangerous situation. Should this vehicle drift into oncoming lanes in the process, other drivers nearby may also find it nearly impossible to veer out of its path. A recent car accident that involved as many as four vehicles in total has reportedly claimed the lives of two individuals and left three others with injuries in Georgia.
Wrong way driver
According to reports, law enforcement agents responded to the scene of a multiple-vehicle crash on a recent Saturday morning. They have advised that the incident took place when, for reasons that remain under investigation, the driver of a northbound car suddenly lost control of his vehicle and veered into oncoming lanes. The car proceeded to collide with a second vehicle head-on, and two other drivers were reportedly forced to veer off the road and crash in the process.
Reports indicate that the driver of the second vehicle and a passenger in the car both passed away at the scene. The drivers of the third and fourth vehicles were both taken to a hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries. The driver who caused the crash also suffered injuries in the process and it remains unclear what might have caused him to lose control and cross into the opposite lanes of traffic.
Aftermath of a crash
A car accident that takes place under similar circumstances could carry dire repercussions that may forever alter the lives of those involved, or of loved ones who lose someone close in the process. Following such an incident, the victims or surviving loved ones of the deceased may wish to exercise their rights to seek restitution in civil court, but the process can be complex. When facing a similar situation, a person in Georgia could benefit from retaining the services of an experienced attorney for much needed assistance in navigating every step of the subsequent process.
