Traffic stop leads to DUI charges for 1 in Georgia

On Behalf of Harrison & Medlin, P.C. | Aug 29, 2021 | DUI Defense

There may be many individuals in Georgia and elsewhere who feel that the idea of being involved in a routine traffic stop is an intimidating concept. However, attempting to evade a stop is never advisable and may only add to the severity of one’s situation. A 21-year-old man in Georgia could be in search of guidance after an alleged police pursuit that stemmed from reports of a reckless driver has left him facing DUI charges.

Reports of pursuit

The incident is said to have taken place on a recent Wednesday afternoon after authorities received information about a possible reckless driver. Upon locating the vehicle and attempting to initiate a traffic stop, they claim the driver chose to flee the scene. This allegedly prompted a brief pursuit that came to an end after the driver crashed his vehicle.

While reports indicate that the man was placed under arrest soon thereafter, no further information was provided as to how they came to suspect the presence of impairment. It is also unclear if a field sobriety or breath test was administered. However, reports indicate that he is now facing numerous charges in relation to the incident, including charges for driving under the influence and reckless driving.

Advice on the options

Individuals who face DUI charges under similar circumstances may not only feel overwhelmed by the process, but they might also be uncertain of how best to approach the situation. When facing a similar scenario, a person in Georgia could benefit from consulting with an attorney as soon as possible for advice on all his or her legal rights and available options. Such guidance could prove integral to helping a person better prepare to make informed choices about his or her situation while preparing to seek the best outcome possible during subsequent court proceedings.
