Fatigue suspected as factor in recent car accident

On Behalf of Harrison & Medlin, P.C. | Oct 15, 2021 | Car Wrecks

It might not come as a surprise that the presence of drowsiness or fatigue could affect one’s driving capabilities in various ways. Those who succumb to similar concerns may struggle to maintain proper lane control, and veering in and out of traffic lanes can be dangerous under any scenario. Reports indicate that up to four individuals suffered injuries in a recent car accident involving the suspected presence of fatigue in Georgia.

Drowsy driver

Authorities say they responded to reports of the crash at around 6 p.m. on a recent Thursday. They say the incident took place when the driver of a northbound pickup truck suddenly crossed over the median and into oncoming lanes of traffic. Reports indicate that the truck proceeded to collide head-on with a southbound vehicle soon thereafter.

According to authorities, all three occupants within the second vehicle suffered injuries in the incident, one of whom is being treated for severe injuries. Although the driver who caused the crash was also injured, no further information on his condition was provided. Authorities say that an investigation into the incident revealed that fatigue might have played a role in causing it to occur and say that the driver has been issued a citation for failing to maintain lane control.

The next steps

When the negligent actions of a driver cause a car accident to occur, those who suffer serious harm in the process may left with questions about their available legal options. Following a similar incident, a person in Georgia could choose to consult with an attorney for advice on his or her options and the best course of action to take. Such advice could prove integral to helping a person pursue the restitution deserved and shift his or her focus toward the recovery period.
