Fatal crash claims 2 lives in Georgia

On Behalf of Harrison & Medlin, P.C. | Nov 12, 2021 | Car Wrecks

Those who choose to ride as passengers in a motor vehicle may have little to no control over the actions or decisions of the driver. Should the driver exhibit dangerous or reckless behavior, the safety of all occupants within the vehicle may be placed at significant risk. A recent car accident in which a driver failed to stop in time to avoid crashing into the rear end of a tractor-trailer has reportedly claimed the lives of two passengers in Georgia.

Rear-end crash

According to reports, authorities received information about a crash at just after 2:30 p.m. on a recent Tuesday. They have advised that the driver of a pickup truck was following closely behind a tractor-trailer when its driver began to slow down for a shift in traffic patterns. The driver of the pickup was unable to react quickly enough to avoid collision and proceeded to crash into the rear end of the other vehicle.

According to authorities, two passengers within the pickup truck suffered fatal injuries in the crash and died at the scene. An investigation into the crash reportedly led authorities to suspect the driver was under the influence of drugs at the time of the crash. He is now facing numerous charges in relation to the incident, including driving under the influence and vehicular homicide.

Loss of a loved one

Families who lose a loved one in a car accident involving a negligent driver may be left with questions, or even in search of justice. Following the collision, a person could choose to consult with an attorney in Georgia for advice on the next steps to take to seek restitution accordingly. An attorney can examine the incident thoroughly and assist a client in preparing a strategy with which to seek the full amount of compensation deserved through a wrongful death claim.
