When authorities receive information about the possible presence of unlawful activity, they may have a duty to respond to the location and investigate the situation. While the average person might not be fully prepared to handle such an investigation, attempting to flee the scene may only prompt further suspicion of wrongdoing. A quarterback for a college in Georgia is currently facing drug charges after allegedly attempting to leave the scene of a disturbance call and leading authorities on a brief pursuit.

Drug possession charges

The incident reportedly began when authorities were notified of a disturbance at a local store. After arriving at the scene, they claim to have spotted a vehicle with illegal window tent fleeing the scene. This allegedly led to a brief pursuit that ended after authorities used techniques to bring the vehicle in question to a halt.

Law enforcement agents say that the driver and a passenger were both taken into custody and state that a search of the vehicle was performed. This search allegedly uncovered an unspecified amount of marijuana, along with two firearms. Reports indicate that the driver, who is a quarterback at a local university, is currently facing numerous charges in relation to the incident, including drug possession and felony fleeing.

Where to turn

A conviction for drug charges carries serious penalties that could affect various areas of the man’s life and the outcome of the situation may even impact his education and position on the university’s team. Individuals in Georgia who face similar charges and wish to seek insight on the possible repercussions involved and on their available legal options could find it beneficial to consult with an attorney as soon as possible. An attorney can help a client better prepare to make informed choices about the situation and assist in developing a strategy to seek the best outcome possible during court proceedings.
