Crash involving fatigued driver proves fatal

On Behalf of Harrison & Medlin, P.C. | Sep 5, 2022 | Car Wrecks

It may come as no surprise that issue such as driver fatigue continues to play a role in many collisions. Even if a bout with fatigue lasts only a moment, the fallout thereof could create a situation that may have a lingering impact on the lives of those nearby. Fatigue is suspected as a contributing factor in a recent car accident that reportedly claimed the life of a motorcycle rider in Georgia.

Early morning crash

The collision reportedly occurred just before 3 a.m. on a recent Monday as a motorcycle rider stopped at an intersection for a red traffic light. Upon arriving at the scene, authorities say they found the man lying unresponsive on the ground. Initial investigations indicate that his bike was suddenly rear-ended by a motor vehicle, and authorities say he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Law enforcement agents say that an investigation revealed that the driver of the vehicle may have fallen asleep behind the wheel shortly before causing the crash. While rear-end accidents may always have the potential to end in disaster, the risk may prove much greater when a motorcycle is involved. With less in the way of protective barriers to shield a rider from harm, even a rear-end accident at lesser speeds may leave a person with permanent injuries or leave family members mourning over an unexpected loss.

An unexpected loss

Surviving loved ones who lose a loved one in a car accident under similar circumstances may face an understandable need for answers. Family members in Georgia who suffer such a loss might consider speaking with a personal injury attorney for advice on their options and the best course of action to take. Such guidance could prove integral to helping a person understand what to expect from the process and better prepare to seek the restitution entitled through a wrongful death claim.
