Multiple-vehicle crash involving tractor-trailer proves fatal

On Behalf of | Sep 20, 2022 | Truck Wrecks |

All drivers may find that maintaining a safe speed and practicing proper spacing may prove essential to being prepared to respond to changes in traffic patterns. For truck drivers, such measures may be even more essential, as the weight and size of a tractor-trailer inherently increase stopping distances. A 65-year-old man was killed during a recent truck accident that has reportedly left a truck driver facing numerous charges.

Chain-reaction accident

According to reports, the accident took place on a recent Friday night when the driver of a tractor-trailer failed to respond to a halt in traffic patterns. Authorities say the truck proceeded to crash into the rear-end of a nearby car before drifting across the median and into oncoming lanes. The truck reportedly crashed into the side of a third vehicle soon thereafter and the driver of this vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

Several others who were involved in the crash were reportedly transported to nearby medical facilities for treatment. Authorities say that an investigation into the incident indicates that the truck driver was traveling at a high rate of speed before failing to respond to the change in traffic patterns. The man is now facing numerous charges in relation to the accident, including homicide by vehicle and reckless driving.

Fatal truck accidents

While losing someone close in a fatal truck accident can be harrowing enough as is, the process may be even more difficult to accept if it stems from the negligent behavior of a truck driver. Surviving family members in Georgia who suffer such a loss and have questions about their options and the next steps to take to seek the restitution deserved could benefit from retaining the services of an attorney for advice. An attorney can thoroughly evaluate the circumstances a client is facing and help prepare to pursue the compensation entitled through a claim against all parties deemed responsible.
