Recent crash leads to DUI charges for Georgia man

On Behalf of Harrison & Medlin, P.C. | Apr 22, 2022 | DUI Defense

Being involved in a major accident can be stressful enough on its own, especially when a person suffers serious injuries in the process. However, should an investigation into the crash lead to suspicion of the presence of impairment, the fallout could prove far more harrowing in nature. A 21-year-old man is reportedly facing DUI charges following a recent collision that left several individuals with injuries.

Reports of the crash

Law enforcement agents advised that the incident took place on a recent Thursday afternoon. Initial investigations indicate that the driver of a southbound car suddenly veered into a nearby turn lane before crossing through the median. The car proceeded to collide with an oncoming vehicle and began to spin out of control before coming to a rest in a nearby turn lane.

Authorities say that there were four occupants within the second vehicle, each of whom was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries. Reports indicate that the driver of the car suffered severe injuries and was airlifted to a medical facility for treatment. While few details pertaining to the investigation into the crash were provided, reports also indicate that the driver of the car is now facing charges for driving while under the influence in relation to the incident.

Seeking guidance

Facing DUI charges in relation to a major collision can be a daunting experience, and the average person might not always know how best to approach such a situation. Fortunately, one does not have to face this process alone, and by speaking with an attorney, a person in Georgia could obtain much needed advice on his or her available options. An attorney can work toward protecting a client’s legal rights and assist in creating a strong defense for use during subsequent court proceedings.
