On Behalf of | Oct 20, 2023 | Dui Defense |

There are many factors that can contribute to an accident on Georgia roadways. While many crashes are minor, often someone can be seriously injured in a motor vehicle crash. Sometimes these serious accidents are blamed on drivers who are under the influence of drugs or alcohol. A recent accident in Catoosa County injured a police officer and authorities believe the driver involved may have been intoxicated.

Crash details

The accident happened on Cloud Springs Road in Fort Oglethorpe. Police were called due to a possible DUI in the area. When the officer arrived on the scene at around 5 a.m., he saw the suspect’s SUV stopped on the wrong side of Larry Driver. The officer stopped to observe the vehicle but was then struck on the driver’s side of his police vehicle.

The Fort Oglethorpe police officer was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for his injuries. The driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. If convicted, he could face jail time, fines, or both.

Seek legal help when accused of driving under the influence

DUI charges can come with serious repercussions if one is convicted. Not only may a conviction mean jail time and fines but can also affect one negatively in all aspects of their life. It’s important for those charged with DUI to know that they have rights and will have the opportunity to defend themselves against the charges in court. Georgia drivers who are facing DUI charges can consult a criminal defense attorney, so they know how best to prepare a defense.
