On Behalf of Harrison & Medlin, P.C. | Dec 19, 2023 | DUI Defense

When a driver loses control of a vehicle and veers off the road, authorities may have a duty to respond to the scene and investigate the crash. While being involved in a single-vehicle crash can be daunting enough as is, things may become even more stressful should authorities suspect the presence of unlawful activity. An investigation into a single-vehicle accident has reportedly left a 36-year-old man in Georgia facing DUI charges.

Recent single-vehicle crash

Authorities reportedly responded to the scene of a single-vehicle accident at around 8 p.m. on a recent Saturday. An investigation into the crash indicated that it began when the driver of a motor vehicle suddenly lost control and veered off the road. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle proceeded to overturn and both the driver and a passenger suffered injuries in the process.

Reports indicate that the driver of the vehicle was initially taken to a hospital for medical care before being taken into custody after being released from the facility. He is reportedly facing numerous charges in relation to the crash, including reckless driving, speeding, and driving while under the influence. While authorities claim to have found an open container of alcohol in the vehicle, no further information was provided regarding how they came to suspect the presence of impairment or if any field sobriety or breath tests were administered.
