Tragic accident leaves family seeking justice

On Behalf of | Apr 10, 2024 | Injuries |

No Georgia parent wants to think about the possibility of losing a child. Most parents do everything possible to protect their children from danger. Sadly, not all accidents can be prevented, even when a parent takes steps to keep their child safe. A recent accident at the Mall of Georgia left a four-year-old girl dead and her grieving family is now seeking justice for the child.

An unexpected loss

The victim was walking through the mall parking lot with her father and older sister at the time of the accident. The child was struck by a truck driven by an 18-year-old male. After an investigation into the accident, the authorities have decided not to file charges against the driver of the pickup.

The child’s family is understandably distraught, and they believe that the driver should be held accountable. According to authorities who conducted the investigation, the accident did not meet the criteria for filing charges against the driver. The accident happened on private property and the driver was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The family may decide to pursue civil action against the driver, which is separate from a criminal case.

Help after a tragic death

Seeking financial compensation after the death of a loved one is one of the ways a family can pursue justice when they otherwise feel hopeless. While no amount of money can bring back a child, the parents and other family members can use the funds awarded from a civil lawsuit to cover expenses related to the loss. Georgia families who’ve lost someone due to the negligence of another can better understand their options by consulting a personal injury attorney.
