Adoption in Georgia: teenagers are waiting

There are millions of children in the foster care system and orphanages across the United States today. These kids may have lost their families and are left waiting to see if someone will bring them into their family. Teenagers waiting to be adopted oftentimes have a much more difficult time than those who are younger. People in Georgia looking into adoption can use the resources available to assist with the process.

One teen has been in the foster care system for ten years. Now 16 years old, he has moved from house to house, waiting to find the place he can call home for good. This young man understands that many families are hesitant to adopt someone in his or her teenage years because of the age group’s stereotype.

The majority of people looking to adopt choose to bring little children into their families. However, a specialist in adoptions reminds couples that older kids have had to go through rough times and want to be loved just like those who are still little. This teenager says he just wants to be a part of a family, no matter what age or color.

Adopting a child can be a long and expensive process, but the joy and hope it brings to children who finally find their forever home is incomparable. Whether the child is young or old, everyone wants to be loved by someone. Deciding to go through the adoption process can change one’s life forever. If one has chosen to look into the process, there are many resources available in Georgia that can make it easier and less stressful.
