A collision can take place under various circumstances and the fallout of similar incidents run the risk of forever altering the lives of those involved. In some cases, a person may wake up the day after a crash in a hospital bed with severe injuries, or family members may be left mourning the untimely passing of someone close. One person has died and another remains in critical condition after a recent hit-and-run car accident in Georgia.

Law enforcement agents say they responded to reports of the crash on a recent Saturday morning. Initial investigations indicate the crash occurred when a driver who was attempting to merge onto a road from an exit ramp suddenly crashed into a nearby car. The impact of the crash reportedly caused the second car to overturn.

Authorities say that one of the car’s occupants was killed in the incident, while a second occupant was taken to a hospital with critical injuries. They also advised that witnesses to the crash say they saw both occupants of the first vehicle flee the scene of the crash on foot. Leaving the scene of a crash may not only be unlawful, but it could also cause those in need of medical attention to go untreated for extended periods.

Suffering life-altering harm in a car accident can be a disastrous experience, as can losing a loved one under similar circumstances. Individuals in Georgia who suffer harm or loss in a collision and wish to know more about the next steps to take to seek legal recourse could benefit from retaining the services of an attorney as soon as possible for guidance. An attorney can help a client better understand all his or her available options and assist in preparing to pursue the full amount of restitution entitled through the proper channels.
