Car accident involving wrong-way driver kills 2, injures 1

On Behalf of Harrison & Medlin, P.C. | Mar 29, 2021 | Car Wrecks

When a driver loses control of a vehicle and crosses into oncoming traffic, others nearby may be left with little to no chance of steering to safety. Accidents that take place under similar situations run the unfortunate risk of resulting in serious or even fatal injuries. Two individuals died and another suffered serious harm in a recent head-on car accident involving up to three vehicles in Georgia.

Head-on crash

Reports indicate that law enforcement agents responded to the scene of a multiple-vehicle crash on a recent Saturday morning. They say it took place when for reasons still under investigation, the driver of a northbound car crossed into the wrong lane of traffic and collided with a truck. Reports indicate that the car then proceeded to hit a third vehicle soon thereafter.

Authorities advised that the driver who caused the crash and a passenger in the truck were both killed in the accident. The driver of the truck is said to have suffered critical injuries and could be facing a need to undergo several medical procedures. It remains unclear as to why the driver of the first car might have drifted into oncoming lanes and no further information was given as to whether any contributing factors have been identified.

Injury and loss

Suffering severe injuries or the loss of a loved one in a car accident involving a negligent driver can be devastating. Following such a crash, the victims or the surviving family members of the deceased might be left with questions about the next steps to take to seek accountability in civil court, and they could choose to speak with an attorney in Georgia for guidance in the process. An attorney can evaluate the circumstances a client is facing and help him or her prepare to pursue the full amount of compensation entitled through a claim against the party deemed responsible.
