Aggressive Advocacy And Trusted Legal Guidance For Your Most Important Matters

1 dead following three-car accident in Georgia

On Behalf of Harrison & Medlin, P.C. | Jul 6, 2021 | Car Wrecks

There may be few things in life as difficult to accept as the untimely passing of a loved one. While this can be a trying process regardless of the circumstances, surviving loved ones who experience loss in a collision due to the actions of another party may struggle to accept the outcome. One person died following a recent car accident involving up to three vehicles in Georgia that began after a driver failed to slow down in time to avoid rear-ending another vehicle.

Multiple-vehicle crash

Law enforcement agents say they received reports of a multiple-vehicle crash on a recent Thursday. An investigation into the incident indicates that it began when a southbound driver failed to slow down upon approaching a vehicle that had stopped to navigate a left turn. This reportedly prompted a rear-end crash, the impact of which pushed the second vehicle into oncoming lanes, where it collided with a third vehicle head-on.

The subsequent crash forced the third vehicle off the road and down an embankment, where it began to overturn before landing upside down in the water. Authorities have advised that the driver of the third vehicle suffered fatal injuries and passed away soon thereafter. No further information was provided as to why the driver of the first vehicle might have failed to stop in time to avoid collision and authorities say that the investigation into the incident remains ongoing.

Legal recourse

When the actions of a negligent driver cause a car accident that claims the life of another party, the surviving loved ones of the deceased may be left in search of advice on their available options for legal recourse. Since the civil justice system can be complex, those facing a similar scenario could find it helpful to retain the services of an attorney in Georgia for guidance in navigating every stage of the process. While there may be little one can do to change what took place, a successful legal claim could help provide much needed restitution during a difficult time.
