It is no secret that prescription medications can alter a person’s behavior in various ways, but the effects of these medications might not always be immediately apparent. Those who operate a vehicle while on certain medications may not be aware of how this could impact their driving capabilities. A recent motor vehicle accident involving a bus and a car has reportedly left a bus driver in Georgia facing DUI charges.

Accident investigation

According to reports, authorities say they were notified of the collision on a recent Monday evening. Authorities indicate that the driver of a bus was attempting to back up when it suddenly collided with a nearby car. While the bus was transporting children at the time, reports indicate that no injuries were reported.

While speaking with the driver of the bus, authorities claim that he appeared to be exhibiting signs of impairment. He allegedly admitted to taking prescription medications prior to getting behind the wheel, and after field sobriety tests were administered, he was taken into custody and is now facing charges for driving under the influence. A conviction for similar charges carries serious repercussions that could affect various areas of one’s life, and it could even make it difficult for him to obtain employment within a similar field in the future.

Seeking guidance

It is no secret that facing DUI charges can be a stressful and harrowing experience and that the outcome of the situation may have a lingering impact on one’s life. When facing similar circumstances, a person in Georgia could benefit from consulting with legal counsel for advice on the best course of action with which to proceed.
