Tailgating is a type of reckless driving behavior that continues to be a leading cause of many collisions. Insufficient spacing not only disrupts one’s ability to react to changes in traffic patterns, but it could also leave others nearby with little to no chance to evade danger. A recent car accident that took place under similar circumstances has claimed the lives of two individuals and left another person facing vehicular homicide charges in Georgia.

The crash

Authorities responded to reports of a two-vehicle crash on a recent Sunday night. The incident took place when for reasons unknown, the driver of a northbound car suddenly crashed into the rear-end of another vehicle. Few details were provided as to what might have caused the incident to occur and why the driver of the first vehicle might have failed to slow down or stop in time to avoid collision.

Reports indicate that two passengers who were riding in the back of the second vehicle both suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. Emergency responders advised that both drivers were taken to the hospital for medical care for minor injuries. Authorities say that the driver who caused the crash was arrested and is now facing several charges in relation to the incident, including vehicular homicide.

Dealing with loss

No family should have to endure the loss of a loved one in a car accident involving a negligent driver. After experiencing loss under a similar scenario, a person in Georgia could choose to consult with an attorney for guidance on the next steps to take to seek restitution. An attorney can help a client better understand his or her available options and assist in preparing to pursue the compensation entitled through the proper channels.
