While there may be some areas in which it is legal to pass another vehicle on a two-lane road, using caution when attempting such maneuvers may be imperative. Drivers who fail to allow adequate space and time to navigate such a maneuver could be at risk of causing a dangerous or fatal car accident to occur. A recent head-on collision that occurred on a two-lane road in Georgia has killed one person and left three others with serious injuries.

Head-on collision

Authorities reportedly responded to the scene of a head-on collision at around 3:15 a.m. on a recent Sunday. An investigation into the incident indicates that it occurred as the driver of a northbound vehicle was attempting to pass another driver on a two-lane road. After entering the opposite lane of traffic, the first vehicle crashed head-on into an oncoming vehicle.

Reports indicate that the drivers of both vehicles and a passenger in the second vehicle all suffered severe injuries in the incident. A fourth person was pronounced dead at the scene but no further information was provided as to which vehicle the deceased was riding in at the time of the crash. No details were provided as to why the driver of the first vehicle may have attempted such a dangerous maneuver.

When disaster strikes

Individuals who suffer serious injuries or lose a loved one in a car accident involving similar scenarios may find the fallout thereof difficult to accept. Following the incident, the victim or surviving loved ones of the deceased might consider speaking with a personal injury attorney for advice on the next steps to take. An attorney can evaluate every aspect of the crash and help a client prepare to seek the full amount of compensation entitled through a claim against the party deemed responsible.
